Sheriff Randy Bounds and DMVSAR President William HeisterhagenOn October 16th, 2014, Sheriff Randy Bounds signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Delmarva Search and Rescue (DMVSAR) Organization to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of search and rescue operations conducted by the Sheriff's Office.

The DMVSAR group brings search and rescue assets to the Sheriff's Office that would normally not be available. The DMVSAR are members of the National Association for Search and Rescue (NSAR) , an emergency response resource specializing in conducting and managing search and rescue (SAR) operations for ground searches, canine searches, mounted (horse) searches, and FEMA standard responses for disaster operations.

Sheriff Randy Bounds stated:

When a child is missing or a vulnerable adult walks off, time is of the essence. By partnering with DMV-SAR we have substantially increased our professional response to these types of incidents. We value our current partnerships with Caroline County Fire, Rescue and EMS organizations and look forward to that same appreciation for the services of the DMVSAR organization.

Based on the Eastern Shore, DMVSAR has been responding to missions throughout Delaware, Maryland and Virginia and other states since its inception. DMVSAR is comprised of professional volunteers who dedicate countless hours to rigorous training, mission response, group projects, preventative instruction, and public awareness. DMVSAR members come from throughout the state of Maryland to make up this professional organization.

By Sheriff Bounds signing this MOU with our organization, the Caroline County Sheriff's Office is the first law enforcement agency on the Eastern Shore to officially partner with our organization. We bring specific skills and assets for the Sheriff's Office at no cost to the citizens, to augment other public safety organizations within Caroline County on an as needed basis
