Former Caroline County Sheriff Passes On

Sheriff Louis C. AndrewFormer Caroline County Sheriff, Lewis C. Andrew of Denton, Maryland passed away on March 16, 2015. He was 86 years old. Born in Burrsville, MD on April 26, 1928, Sheriff Andrew was the son of the late William Elijah Andrew and Mary Lolita Chance Andrew. He had lived in Caroline County all of his life and was a 1945 graduate of Caroline High School in Denton. Sheriff Andrew was Sheriff of Caroline County from 1961 until 1994.


He was a US Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Caroline American Legion Post 29 and the VFW Post 5246 in Federalsburg. He was also a member of the St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

Sheriff Andrew is survived by his wife, Joyce Anne Baker Andrew of Denton; two sons: Charles L. Andrew and his wife Linda of Hobbs near Denton and Richard (Ricky) Andrew and his wife Mary Sue of Preston, MD; a brother, A. Curtis Andrew of American Corner, MD; Five grandchildren: Jacob C. Andrew, Daniel L. Andrew, Matthew Andrew, Hobert Duff and Ronald Jackson; and 12 great grandchildren: Londyn, Zoa, Conner, Victoria, Jimmy, Bradley, Marlie, Nolan, Lainey, Maria, Austin, and Dalton. He was predeceased by a brother, John William Andrew.
