Sheriff Baker presents to students of NCHS and CRHS about careers in Law Enforcement

January 23, 2026

This morning, Sheriff Baker joined a dynamic “Career Coaching” session hosted by North Caroline High School (NCHS), offering students from NCHS and Colonel Richardson High School (CRHS) a firsthand look into the world of law enforcement. The event, designed to inspire and inform aspiring young professionals, provided a platform for Sheriff Baker and other local law enforcement leaders to discuss the realities, challenges, and rewards of a career in public safety. Students engaged in an open dialogue, asking questions about training requirements, daily responsibilities, and the personal qualities needed to succeed in the field. By sharing personal anecdotes and practical insights, Sheriff Baker and his colleagues, from the Maryland State Police, Department of Natural Resources Police, Office if the State Fire Marshal and Department of Homeland Security, demystified the profession, emphasizing the importance of integrity, community service, and resilience. The interactive format allowed attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the human side of law enforcement, fostering appreciation for the dedication required to serve and protect. For many students, the session not only clarified misconceptions but also sparked a renewed interest in exploring careers that combine purpose with public impact. As NCHS and CRHS continue to collaborate on initiatives bridging education and real-world opportunities, events like these play a vital role in empowering the next generation of leaders.
