On March 15, 2026, a Deputy from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office served a criminal summons on William Collins Jr. a 44 year-old male of Hurlock, MD. Mr. Collins is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), removing a prescription drug label, two counts of CDS possession -not cannabis, CDS possession-not paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a regulated firearm. These charges stem from December 16, 2025, when Mr. Collins was involved in a motor vehicle crash at Payne Rd. and Harmony Rd. in Preston, MD. During the investigation Mr. Collins showed signs of impairment and the following items were in the vehicle that he was driving, a handgun, cocaine, oxycodone, and suboxone.  Mr. Collins signed the summons and was instructed on when to appear in district court.
